The Night Before Eid — A Reflection
Tonight is the night before Eid, known as Shab-e-Eid or Lailatul Jaiza, a night of blessings and deep reflection for Muslims across the world. By tomorrow morning, many countries will celebrate Eid al-Adha with joy and devotion.
Here in India, we celebrate every Eid — whether it's Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, or Eid Milad-un-Nabi (peace be upon him) — with immense love, tradition, and enthusiasm. Tonight, on this special evening, I want to share a glimpse into how my family and I are preparing for the big day. I hope this brings a smile to your face and a sense of connection to your heart.
Today was Friday, and also the Day of Arafah — a day when many Muslims fast in solidarity with those on Hajj, standing at the plains of Arafat. My brothers and I fasted, and after breaking our fast in the evening, we offered our prayers with gratitude.
As I returned home, the house was buzzing with excitement. The women were busy applying mehndi (henna) and preparing dishes for tomorrow’s feast. Just as I stepped in, my mother handed me a grocery list…
